Mission Ten Eleven is a name, address and a fulfillment of a long time goal. Hair stylist Ernie Hernandez has been in the industry for almost 20 years. His works have been seen in top fashion magazines, commercials and movies but more importantly on real people. Ernie utilized his experience and industry contacts to build a salon with top stylists offering quality service, education, and lifestyle enhancement for his clientele.
Located on Mission Street in South Pasadena, Mission Ten Eleven is a salon that is the most exciting chapter of Ernie’s life, salon owner and educator. After working at top salons in the Los Angeles area he decided to create an environment where clients can experience top educated stylist who create beautiful styles for everyone. Clients experience an energetic salon with an offering of accoutrements including literature and art books, eclectic music, an offering of delicious French press coffee, a variety of wine, imported beers, teas, juices and mineral water. Each hair station is equipped with vintage “beauty lighting,” circa France 1920’s where each client’s style is vividly accentuated. There are also outlets for laptop and cell phone charging as well as hooks to hang handbags. The shampoo bowls are ergonomically designed so the clientele never experiences neck pain and can relax and enjoy their shampoo and scalp massage before every cut.
Every detail at Mission Ten Eleven fits Ernie’s passions and beliefs. While renovating the historic space he preserved and restored the wood floors, wall and ceiling beams to the original luster of 100 years ago. The paint is soy based, business cards are printed on 100% recycled paper with soy based ink and all of the appliances are high efficiency. Even the coffee grounds from the French press are recycled as ground fertilizer. The salon donates all hair clippings to an organization called Matter of Trust (http://www.matteroftrust.org/programs/hairmatsinfo.html). This organization creates hair mats that are used to soak up oil from more than 2,600 oil spills that occurred last year around the world.
